What is Candida? - herbal remedy for candida
What is Candida?
Candida is a term used for many species of fungal organisms. Candida, Candida yeast and Candida Albicans all refer to the same organism. Many Candida species usually resides in the digestive tract and is observed in females in the vagina, or in any sufferer on the skin (athletes foot or dandruff, for example, are generally signs of fungal or yeast infections).
The occurrence of Candidiasis has actually been increasing rapidly over the last few decades. Our modern diet of processed food and sweets is partly to blame for candida, but so are the increased prevalence of obesity and diabetes, plus the much expanded use of antibiotics.
Candida is believed to occur more often in women, but the truth is that it occurs in high numbers for men as well, but it is reported and diagnosed less frequently.
Candida serves no useful purpose in the body (unlike other bacterial flora such as lactobacillus acidophilus) and can, therefore, be viewed as a parasite. In many people this yeast causes no harm and lives within them peacefully.
However, when the body is weakened it is more vulnerable to attack. For example, when you have a cold or a medical condition that weakens your immune system it can lower your resistance to other conditions like candidiasis .
A chronic problem with Candida can lead to many different problems within the body. In fact, it may be contributed to many more conditions than it was once believed. Candida will multiply rapidly and turn into a dangerous fungal state as it spreads throughout the body. This can cause serious problems for the infected person. When not treated, it can turn into things such as Leaky Gut Syndrome, bladder infections, energy loss, puffy eyes, fatigue, food cravings, hay fever, heartburn, hyperactivity, inflammation, itching, insomnia, migraine, mouth infections, rashes, sore throat, thrush and thyroid problems.
It is known that a single yeast cell, given the right reproductive environment, is able to multiply into more than one hundred yeast cells within twenty-four hours. In the human body, therefore, given the right environment, this normally harmless yeast can multiply to frightening levels and once you have candida overgrowth it can be extremely difficult to get it under control.
There are things that you can do to keep your Candida at normal levels and prevent chronic problems from candidiasis. Your diet plays a big role in it as can other conditions. Learn all you can about Candida and how it reacts with the body so you can have optimum health. Click Here!

Foods to avoid with candida. Sugar Yeast, including Candida, feed off of sugar and require sugar to maintain their growth and development. So in order to prevent this from happening you must eliminate ALL sugar from your diet. These include: white sugar, brown sugar, maple syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, honey, molasses, fruit and fruit juices. White flour and starchy foods will also convert to sugar in your body and feed the Candida growth and should be avoided. Sugar is far worse than most people are even aware of. It makes you wonder how healthy something like sugar must be when it feeds organisms like fungus and parasites. Alcohol Alcohol is high in sugar, sugar that can feed the growth of the Candida yeast and put stress on your organs and immune system. Mixing alcohol and Candida is like opening all your windows in a house fire - you don't want to feed the problem. Wine, beer and spirits are all off-limits, but remember these can be reintroduced when the diet starts to work! Your body is actually producing an abundance of alcohol when you suffer from Candida. When yeast and sugar are combined the byproduct is alcohol. When Candida is flourishing in your body, the alcohol production is increased. Acetaldehyde, a toxic by product of alcohol also becomes produced in the body. Acetaldehyde is 30 times more toxic than alcohol and is responsible for many Candida related health problems including brain-fog and fuzzy thinking. When you have Candida acetaldehyde is produced every day! Consuming alcohol will put unneeded stress on your body and specifically your liver. Your liver is already carrying a major burden by attempting to detoxify all the toxic compounds released by Candida every day. Degeneration of the body leading to aging, and accelerated disease, will occur over time if not treated effectively by the body. Yeast As mentioned, Candida is a form of yeast, and when a Candida sufferer consumes other types of yeast it acts as a fuel for Candida to multiply. This additional yeast works hand in hand with sugar to produce what is called fermentation in the body. This creates alcohol and the toxic acetaldehyde is again produced as a byproduct.

After approx. 8 weeks of this diet you should not go back to a nutrition rich on sugar and sweets.
Instead you should try to eat healthy whole foods as long as possible, at least for 4 - 6 months. Whilst eating whole foods you should avoid all refined sugars, but you are encouraged to eat all kinds of fruit, including the sweet ones. White flour is not advisable anyway, as it is low on nutrients and fibre.
During and after the diet you should use herbal remedies that will help you to eliminate candida.
Herbal Remedies for Candida
The treatment methods for Candida are wide-ranging since the symptoms that it causes are so broad. Possible cures, such as probiotics, changing one's diet so that it is as sugar-free and carb-free as possible, therefore depriving Candida of it's main source of food and riding yourself of antibiotic treatment, which many consider the original cause of Candida are all popular choices. But if none of those options work for you, what can you do? There are several herbal and all-natural options available.
One of the most popular choices in dealing with Candida is the addition of shark liver oil to your diet. It's believed that shark liver oil does wonders for the body when it comes to improving the health of the immune system. This is important for sufferers of Candida since the best weapon we all have against Candida running wild in our bodies is our own immune system.
Another popular herbal remedy for Candida is grapefruit seed extract. Grapefruit seed extract is an anti-fungal solution that helps to raise the bodies pH back to a level where it becomes too acidic for the Candida to live. Helping to raise the bodies' pH level back to healthy levels is an effective way to treat Candida.
Garlic pills are another common, all-natural way to deal with Candida. It's believed that garlic can inhibit the growth of Candida in the human body since it does have some antimicrobial properties. An even more effective version of garlic, a purified extract known as allyl alcohol, has shown to be effective in killing yeast, and therefore Candida, in lab tests. The same tests have shown that the garlic can start working within hours of ingestion, making it a popular choice.
Certain oils have also demonstrated an ability to kill or suppress Candida in lab tests on animals. Natural oils from cayenne pepper, cloves and especially oregano have been tested and shown to help Candida sufferers. They showed an ability to reduce the amount of Candida in animals with a suppressed immune system and an ability to reduce the overall number of colonies of Candida in animals, as well.
Tea tree oil is another herbal remedy that has shown good anti-fungal properties, as well as anti-Candida properties. Tea tree oil works best when rubbed into the skin in areas where the Candida infection is present, like the feet or anywhere where a Candida-caused outbreak of psoriasis has occurred. Studies showed that the tea tree oil weakened the cell walls of the yeast, making them easier for the bodies immune system to kill off.
Lactoferrin, which comes from whey protein, has been shown in lab studies to help the body fight off yeasts, bacteria and even some parasites. It has shown to survive the stomachs digestive juices and make its way into the intestine where it can battle the Candida.
Because Candida is a fairly new condition and is still so controversial, there really is no medical consensus as to the best way to treat it herbally. The best choice for anyone looking to treat their Candida is to speak with a doctor, or at the very least a trained dietician about what treatment is best for you.
